We are
the USA West Coast dealer for Aster Hobbies
locomotives. Aster specialize in limited editions of very accurately
made live steam locomotives. They come as either fully built or kits,
mainly to US, British and German outline. We have extensive personal
experience in building and operating many of their models. Aster locos
generally appreciate in value over time.
The Allegheny must surely be the king of
the Aster locomotives. Exquisitely detailed, and with Aster's
insistence on modeling the correct mechanical workings as well, this
is the ultimate locomotive for the discerning collector.
Professionally built up from kits, and tuned and tested at Sunset
Valley Railroad for optimum running qualities.
Kit price is
$21,000 hand built $25,000
The 1:32 scale
Mikado has been one of Aster’s most successful locos. It steams very
freely, and is extremely powerful; our kit-built Mikado pulls a 70 ft
long 45-car hopper freight train, which is an impressive sight. This
engine also represents very good value for money considering the size
of engine. The picture shows our Mikado hard at work on our railroad.
Kit price is $3813, factory built $4474.
The Berkshire is now sold out, please
enjoy the video of the Berkshire on the Sunset Valley Railroad pulling
72 cars with power to spare.
The new S2 is now available from
stock in both the Green livery (shown) or black. The engine specs
include C type boiler, superheater, 2 cylinders (15mm bore x 23mm
stroke), working draincocks, axle and tender water pumps, whistle,
electric headlight, water tank drain. Choose from either the kit or
the ready to run version.
In addition,
Sunset Valley offfers an exclusive 1:32 scale Great Northern caboose
to complement the locomotive. Made from real wood sheathing over a
strong steel frame, it is a model of the 30 foot wood exterior caboose
built from 1941 to 1945. Only 25 will be made. Price is $365 plus
shipping.
Southern Railways 'Battle of Britain"
class Pacific loco. Also known as the 'Spam Can', due to its air
smoothed casing, the loco was a very popular and widely used engine in
Southern England in the post war period. The Aster model has the
correct 3 cylinder arrangement. Available in Southern (shown) and BR
liveries, in kit or factory built versions. Call for pricing .
We are the Pacific Northwest dealer for
Roundhouse . This UK company makes mainly British and
American outline
narrow gauge locomotives and they are well engineered to give years of
trouble free service. There is heavy demand for Roundhouse products,
and the current waiting list is up to 9 months. However we can offer
the following either in Stock at Sunset Valley or on short delivery.
The Roundhouse
Sandy River loco is one of their most popular models. It is 27.5"
long, 6" high and 4.7" wide, weighing 12.5 lbs.
Gas fired, with r/c control.
The Darjeeling is now available. This is an easy steamer and a
strong engine.
The Katie is now available. The picture shows Katie on our
garden railway. A sweet and dependable engine.
Millie is perhaps the best 'starter' loco
to get you going in the hobby.
