1)
The
travel on our stands and throws can be altered by turning the
adjustment screw on the crank. Sunset Valley switches have a ¼” throw,
other switches may differ. You should adjust the travel to be slightly
more than the throw of the switch, so that the switch points push
against the outer rails and hold tight against them at each end of the
stroke.
2) Using a large paperclip,
approximately 1 7/8” x ½” (size not critical), bend it in stages as
shown in the photo to the final shape. The length should be 2 3/8”
long
3) Drill a .043” (#57) hole in the
center of the circular dimple next to the oval hole in the switch
throwbar.
4) Push the paperclip ends in the
throwbar hole and the groundthrow adjustment screw as shown in the
photo
5) With the switch point rails firmly
against the RH stock rail, position the groundthrow on the headstock
ties, mark the 4 holes and drill through with a .073” (#49) drill
6) Screw the groundthrow to the ties
with 2-56 x ¼” screws.
7) Check that the groundthrow
correctly throws the switch. The travel is altered by the adjustment
screw, make sure there is some over travel at each end. The paperclip
loop takes up the tension to ensure a positive force.
